Shift Forecast
Nights this week: make your availability visible
Your forecast this week is changeable, with a clear opportunity to explain the hours you already work.
Monday into Tuesday
Put both dates beside a shift that crosses midnight. A calendar square can make the end of a working day look like the beginning of a day off. The second date helps you and anyone making plans with you see the whole shift.
Midweek
Mark your sleep time as occupied. You do not need to fill it with an appointment to make it count. When someone offers a morning delivery, you can look at the calendar and offer a time that works. This is the same care you bring to arranging cover at work.
If the rota changes, move the sleep block with the shift before accepting anything else. The square labelled free may need a little attention.
Toward the weekend
You may receive an invitation described as after work. Check whose work it follows. A short reply with the hours you can manage gives the organiser something useful to act on.
Visibility is your theme. Your colleagues see the results of the night shift when they arrive. Your calendar can do the same for the hours they do not see.
Before the week starts, shade the time you need to sleep. It is reassuring to see it there, held with the same care as a meeting. You have turned an empty afternoon into a commitment. There is no need to invite anyone.
